WAHPETON, N.D. — It’s good to see that Max is back (“National defense op-ed rings a bit hollow,” letter, Page A4, Dec. 12).
Max Laird tried to portray himself as a political moderate and an independent when he unsuccessfully ran for superintendent of public instruction in 2008. It must have been hard for him to have to say nice things about Gov. John Hoeven in order to try to win the Republican voters. Why, he even uttered a couple of nice things about then-Public Service Commission candidate Brian Kalk.
I am sure it was very stressful having to mix with Republicans and Independents and pretending to listen to what they said.
But now, Laird is fully recovered and, once again, writing the silly, inane attack pieces he is so well known for. It is good to have him back. His recent rant against Kalk shows he is back as a fully functioning “yes” man for the far Left.
It appears the voters figured it out in 2008, but it’s nice of Laird to remind them once in a while.
